The reasoning behind the rankings.

  • Bright Planet doesn’t have any of its own software or tools. Their sales resource center is a free google site and the proposals are built in the native platforms for the lenders. ie Sunrun portal, Everbright Portal ETC. However, if you are familiar with those portals its not bad.

  • Sunrun, Everbright, Enfin TPO. BPS would score a C except they have 0 loan options. The TPO options they do have are all solid.

  • Only drawback is submitting a proposal request form on a smartsheet. However, once the BPS# has been created Bright Planet has the easiest process. Sign Docs. Schedule SS, email powerbill. Thats it. If you can’t access your portal they can do everything for you remotely.

  • Bright Planet is arguably the most efficient installer in the industry. When a job comes through they are full steam ahead and getting that project to the finish line. However, there is 0 visibility. This should be ranked a C or D except that they are always quick to respond with an update and they move jobs quickly and efficiently.

  • Due to their exceptional efficiency it is very common to have sub 14 day install times in every market they service

  • One of only a handful of installers that has never been late on a payment. Once. Also one of the few that pays out for true ups.

  • Bright Planet will communicate with the customer but it is oftentimes done without much tact. If a customer has to call them back they are sent in an endless loop. You will want to make sure to manage the communication

  • Bright Planet is a construction company. Not a sales company. You need to call in to check on accounts. Getting problems fixed can be frustrating.

  • Bright Planet has the adder sheets all installers should copy. Adders include things like MPUs and ground mounts and the rare and occasional structural upgrade. MPUs are avoided at all costs and the majority of projects have no adders attached.

  • If a customer is going to do research on bright planet just don’t let them. Or chalk the deal up as a cancel.

  • Despire having higher than average redlines Bright Planet consistently delivers healthy payouts due to jobs not being hit with a ton of adders.

  • Markets include: California, Illinois, Puerto Rico, and New England (with the exception of Vermont and Maine)

  • Blue Raven forces users onto its in house software platform, Albatross. It is difficult to use and not built to handle solar in todays day and age.

  • Many of the finance options they do have will not work or in the case of California they aren’t licensed yet to offer any loans.

  • Onboarding a customer is difficult due to having to navigate albatross. Blue Raven requires their own welcome call even if the lender does a welcome call. Often times certain lenders won’t be synced with albatross.

  • Accounts are updated frequently in albatross and you can call in to their support to get updates. Dealer accounts have been known to sit for weeks without being touched.

  • Due to accounts often times falling through the cracks install timelines have proven to be 60, 90, or over 120 days

  • Pay is never on time and never accurate. Adders that arent listed on an adder sheet will be placed on accounts. Redlines will never be accurate. There is no consistent pay report. Requires multiple calls and emails to get funded.

  • Blue Ravens background of being a customer focused company shines. They do a relatively good job at communicating with a customer and provide a dedicated support line for customer service

  • There is no dealer support or communication. Whenever there is someone put in place they are fired or replaced with someone who doesn’t know or doesn’t communicate.

  • Subject to change. Current Adder list is reasonable and having multiple REC panels is a plus. However, ghost adders are often applied to commissions

  • Used to be an A. Has since dropped down to a B. Blue Raven still has a strong online reputation and often comes up as the number one solar company in a region.

  • Redlines are generally competitive if you are funded on the correct redlines. Commissions are generally a D or an F but after they get fixed its a C overall. Many states don’t have set redlines.

  • After combining with Complete Solar Blue Raven has the best install footprint after Freedom
